Have you been to the Everton Hotel?
We were heading home and it was about that time of day – time for a drink and dinner! So we wheeled in to the Everton Hotel just out of Wangaratta. I’d met Dave & Raelene at the AHA (Vic) Pubs, Pots & Profits meeting in Yackandandah and was looking forward to visiting their pub.
This place can be missed coming from Wangaratta as it’s set back off the road a bit and on a right hander. Keep your eyes peeled, it’s worth a stop in! It was clear to see that the locals loved coming into ‘their’ pub for a drink, a chat and wind down after work.
Keeping a watchful eye over everyone in the bar was a huge deer…not too correct, but he even had a ‘rollie’ in his mouth!
It was a Thursday night and there was plenty of banter about the footy matches for the weekend, who’s in the lead after round one in the tipping competition and who was picking who for this round. A friendly bunch!
After a couple of cold ‘Jack’s & lemonade’, it was time to order…..We stuck with a traditional bar meal – chicken parma and chicken schnitzel. Good choices too! My parma was beautiful! Bacon, plenty of cheese and a decent size…not too much, just perfect!
As expected in a country pub, they had a great beer garden! A stage area for live entertainment (sorry Raelene – I saw the sign on the way out for the Friday night entertainment…missed it on the way in!), lush green grass and a little shed decked out as a bar.
If you love a good little country pub, then make your way to the Everton Hotel. Thanks for having us and I am sure we’ll be back!
